Upon gene's suggestion, I had setup this Amulet Identification corner for all to post your unidentified amulets for identification.

Please do not post threads to verify your amulets whether is it a genuine or fake piece. Such threads are not permitted to avoid online disputes and conflicts. Hope you guys understand.

Best regards
Somdej

Just so i understand properly;
If we can identify an amulets edition and temple or maker, and know if it is fake or real, we are only allowed to say the name of amulet, but not tell them that it is fake (if it is fake and we know it)?
If we know an amulet is fake, then which of the following infos are we allowed to give;
Temple
Name of amulet
Edition
Maker
??

If we say the Maker and we know it is fake, then he didnt make it. This means we are forced to lie no?

I understand the need to avoid embarrassments, but then, as a store owner aqnd trader myself, i personally prefer that if i accidentally had a fake amulet on my store, that it is discovered, and would be very happy to reimburse the person and to make amends, because my intentions are honest, and so mistakes can happen even to the great expert sometimes, expecially with old or expensive editions

There is nothing wrong with having slipped up once or twice in your profession and have to apologize to a client or lose a client. The bad thing about identifying fakes is not that the owner gets angry and goes to shout his head off at the shop or house of the trader.. thats one event and one customer. But what is bad is that some gossipy people who don't think deeply enough go straight to spreading bad rumors about that trader or person. They are as Human as anyone, and just because he had a fake by accident doesnt mean that trader is a con-man.

I personally believe that the fake or real issue is precisely what most amulet fans need due to the fact that most people in singapore, taiwan and malaysia, H.K. etc, need more info about their amulets. Most cant read Thai and are limited to what they can find on the internet, or what their supplier tells them about their amulets.

.. anyway there are places with a fake or real thing .. but i dont think it would damage the place here to allow it. Except for the Kiddies who are standing with a stone in their pocket ready to throw the first stone when something turns up. But who takes any notice of such peoples opinions? who are only there to flame or to criticize? I don't thats for sure. I am as open to exposing a fake from somewhere else, as i am to someone exposing a mistake i make myself, and would thank the person for showing me my mistake
